Position Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Benefits & Wellbeing provides strategic leadership and vision to ensure UAB’s benefits, and wellbeing strategies align with the University’s mission, vision, and values. This role oversees the planning, evaluation, design, compliance, and administration of all University-wide benefits and wellbeing policies and programs. Key Responsibilities: Lead the development and execution of UAB’s comprehensive benefits and wellbeing strategies. Monitor industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to recommend plan and program improvements. Oversee operational activities of benefits and wellbeing teams, ensuring high-quality service and alignment with strategic goals. Direct compliance initiatives, ensuring that all programs meet federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Serve as primary liaison and advisor to top University leadership regarding benefit-related policy, compliance, and planning. Coordinate employee wellbeing initiatives across departments, including oversight of the Employee Assistance and Counseling Center (EACC). Lead internal and UA System-wide Benefits and Wellbeing Committees. Manage relationships with the Teachers Retirement System (TRS) and third-party vendors, ensuring performance standards and contractual obligations are met. Lead communication strategies to inform and engage employees about benefits offerings and changes. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is required. A minimum of

ten (10) years

of directly related experience. Note:
