Stanford University's Graduate School of Business (GSB) invites you to join the Career Management Center (CMC). The CMC is an innovative, high-performing department that serves MBA students, Sloan Fellows, and alumni by providing world-class career services, including workshops, 1:1 coaching, and online resources. The CMC seeks an Associate Director, MBA Career Advising and Education to support MBA students in seeking summer and full-time employment in corporate and institutional finance, including investment banking, investment management, public investing, real estate, and other corporate finance functions. This role develops, maintains, and grows career management resources for MBA students and may involve strategic program planning, content creation, coaching, partner collaboration, and teaching content to MBA students and recent graduates. The Associate Director reports to the Director, MBA Career Advising and Education. It is a hybrid position with onsite work expected 2–5 days per week, and remote work as responsibilities permit. Primary responsibilities
Develop, manage, and deliver virtual and in-person programs that educate first and second year MBA students on career transitions, job search strategies, and career management topics to help students and alumni achieve their career goals. Provide expertise in corporate/institutional finance career management topics in various settings including as facilitator, panel participant, webinar host, and more. Coach and advise first and second year MBA students and recent graduates 1:1 on career transition strategy, balancing career and life, career storytelling, networking, negotiation, and related topics. Manage career education content delivery across platforms including MyGSB, Canvas, and CareerHub. Collaborate with members of the MBA Career Advising and Education team, the broader CMC team, and partner groups across the GSB. Collect, manage, and analyze student and alumni data to understand career needs and evaluate the effectiveness of offerings. To be successful in this position, you will bring
10+ years navigating a business career in corporate settings. Demonstrated expertise in career management and career transitions, ideally within a higher education setting. Exceptional presentation skills, including development of high quality visual presentations and verbal presentation and facilitation skills. Interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with confidence in engaging with GSB students, alumni, and stakeholders. Attention to detail and ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment. Experience with data pulls, data analysis, reporting, and survey tools to develop insights. Ability to own projects from start to finish, define and execute business processes, and evaluate and improve existing projects and processes. Ability to manage differing interests of stakeholders and foster a collaborative environment. Demonstrated sound judgment in situations requiring sensitivity and confidentiality. In addition, preferred requirements include Advanced degree; MBA is preferred. Knowledge of career development resources including self-assessment, networking, resumes, cover letters, interviews, offer evaluation, and negotiation. Co-Active or similar coach training or equivalent experience desired. This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures. Compensation will be based on the location of the successful candidate. The expected pay range for this position at 100% FTE is $129,271 to $175,000 per annum for Stanford Work Locations. The position is hybrid for candidates living in the Bay Area. The expectation is to work onsite 2–5 days per week and balance time virtually as responsibilities permit. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered will be determined based on factors such as scope and responsibilities, qualifications, departmental budget, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
