Celebrate Ursula Le Guin with Us (age 16+) Referral
On October 18, we will celebrate the life and legacy of beloved Portland author Ursula K. Le Guin with a bash of honor her birthday. We are looking for folks to join the planning team for this event. Help us plan the food and fun, games, discussions, cosplay, and/or other activities. Perfect for Le Guin fans, SF&F enthusiasts, writers, artists, or folks who love a good party. Time commitment:
one 1-2 hour meeting every 2-3 weeks till October with more frequent contact leading up to the event. Tryon Life Community Farm is dedicated to bringing people together in caring relationship with the land and each other. Many of our community members have been inspired by Ursula Le Guin's "ambiguous utopian" visions of how we could live differently and better. This event is an invitation to reflect on her legacy and open our own imaginations to hopeful futures. Event planners will get experience with collaboration on event planning, including organizing food, activities, parking, capacity, scheduling, and publicity. They will also get a chance to think creatively about how to showcase diverse perspectives on what it means to live justly and well. Opportunity Requirements: Volunteers must be
