Position Summary
As Automation Safety Director, you lead Walmart’s enterprise-wide automation and robotics safety program. This role ensures safe design, integration, and operation of advanced automation technologies across the entire Walmart enterprise — including Walmart Stores, Sam’s Club, Supply Chain, Last Mile, Walmart Manufacturing, and other subsidiaries worldwide. Location: Bentonville, AR | Travel: 25–50% What you’ll do
Own Walmart’s automation safety strategy, embedding safety into robotics, AMRs/AGVs, ASRS, and other emerging technologies. Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Product teams to assess risks, validate designs, and implement protective measures. Establish and enforce enterprise safety standards, controls, and assurance programs aligned with OSHA, ANSI/RIA, and global safety regulations. Lead safety reviews for automation deployments, ensuring compliance and readiness before launch. Mentor and direct automation safety professionals, driving a culture of innovation and safety across global operations. What You’ll Bring
Deep expertise in automation safety, including robotics, AMRs/AGVs, ASRS, and emerging technologies. Strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI/RIA, and global safety regulations, with a proven track record of implementing enterprise safety standards and controls. Experience partnering with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Product) to assess risk, validate designs, and drive safety initiatives. Demonstrated ability to lead safety reviews, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance/readiness for automation deployments. Leadership experience mentoring and developing safety professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and safety. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
