THE ROLE
This position is responsible for transporting and cleaning cooking utensils and service ware to provide cooks and food servers with appropriate equipment for guests’ dining experience. Also requires cleaning of all areas pertaining to food and beverage service activity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operating dishwashing machine under set operating guidelines – to eliminate personal injury and breakage per SMG Standards.
Cleaning kitchen equipment, floors and walls as directed by the kitchen supervisor.
Assisting in banquet food dish up and set-up as directed by the Executive Sous Chef and Kitchen Supervisor.
Removing all kitchen waste to the proper waste receptacles.
Promptly and carefully sort soiled ware so that it can be put through the dish machine properly. Quickly wash all ware and replace in storage area as designated.
Carefully clean display mirrors with out using abrasive materials and replace into mirror cabinet which also needs to be maintained to sanitation standards.
Clean kettles, tilt skillets, pots and pans promptly and completely so cooks can carry out their work.
Perform general/routine-cleaning tasks using standard kitchen cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
Separate linen from other debris.
Perform other duties as requested, such as moving supplies and equipment, cleaning up spills, giving returning food from functions to cooks, etc.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge of service ware and how to maintain same to compliment guest experience.
Ability to push/pull service carts weighing up to 600 lbs.
Ability to read the English language to fully comprehend job requests, caution notices, and similarly written materials.
Ability to transport heavy objects through a crowded room
Ability to grasp, lift, carry, move, or push goods on a hand/truck weighing a maximum of 600 lbs.
Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates.
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
The above can be met by a combination of education and training or experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which will include weekends and holidays. Work hours may range from very early morning to late night. On rare occasions, must be able to work additional hours, weekends, overnight or extended stays, as business demands, with prior notice. Work is primarily indoors. Some outdoor work (such as snow removal and building maintenance) may be required. Environments may range from very warm to freezing. Work will be performed in many different areas of the Center and off-premises. Work will involve a considerable amount of walking, lifting, and other high-exertion activities. Potentially dangerous chemicals and equipment will be encountered daily during work. May require lifting materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in a crowded, high-activity, high-demand environment. Flexibility is required as to the ability to meet all requests upon demand. Duties require the use of considerable initiative, creativity, judgment, problem-solving, and working under minimal direction. Requires attention to detail, logical reasoning, ability to formulate ideas and opinions, ability to handle multiple priorities, ability to anticipate needs of the company, ability to implement short- and long-term solutions to needs, ability to plan and implement projects, ability to resolve customer service issues. Requires working under deadlines or pressure, dealing with difficult people or situations involving complex issues, and establishing and maintaining cooperative and productive work relationships. Must have outgoing, positive attitude in dealing with clientele and employees.
