Overview Job Title: Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer

Location: Buffalo, NY

Hire Type: Direct Hire

Pay Range: $120,000 – $150,000+ annually (commensurate with experience/licensure)

Work Model: Primarily Onsite (with flexibility; site visits to client facilities required)

Nature & Scope: Positional Overview The Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership and oversight in industrial electrical and power systems design. This individual will be responsible for preparing one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, conduit and cable sizing, lighting calculations, and bills of material while supporting both design execution and client-facing activities. The role emphasizes collaboration within a multidisciplinary environment while offering opportunities to mentor staff and expand business with existing and new clients.

Responsibilities

Lead design and analysis of low, medium, and high-voltage industrial/commercial power systems.

Develop and review one-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and conduit/cable layouts.

Prepare cost estimates, bills of material, and electrical equipment specifications.

Mentor and support electrical design staff, leading discipline meetings and sharing technical expertise.

Participate in client meetings and contribute to business development initiatives.

Conduct site visits, field investigations, and provide on-site construction and commissioning support.

Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, ANSI, and IEEE codes and standards.

Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver projects within scope, budget, and timeline.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems focus).

Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred (or ability to obtain).

10+ years of experience in industrial/commercial electrical design.

Proficiency with ETAP, SKM, and other electrical analysis software.

Strong knowledge of switchgear, MCCs, motors, relaying, and protection systems.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong analytical ability.

Proven track record in mentoring and training staff, as well as client-facing leadership.

Ability to travel locally and nationally (~10%).
