Key Responsibilities
- Verify positive patient identification to ensure safety and accurate specimen collection.
- Perform venipuncture and collect specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients in accordance with established protocols.
- Process, label, package, and track specimens for transport while maintaining proper documentation.
- Perform limited laboratory testing under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines.
- Enter results into the laboratory information system and assist with quality assurance processes.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with patients, physicians, and staff.
- Assist with inventory management and equipment maintenance.
- High school diploma or GED.
- No prior experience required-training provided.
- MediClear Certification (or equivalent healthcare compliance credential) required.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and electronic health record (EHR) use.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and bend for the majority of the workday; occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to safely handle exposure to blood and body fluids and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
