Automotive Dispatcher Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Automotive Dispatcher to coordinate workflow between service advisors, technicians, and parts departments. In this role, you will be responsible for assigning repair orders, managing technician workloads, and ensuring service operations run smoothly and efficiently. Your ability to prioritize, communicate effectively, and adapt to a fast-paced environment will directly impact shop productivity and customer satisfaction.

Automotive Dispatcher Position Responsibilities:

Assign repair orders to technicians based on skill level, availability, and job priority

Monitor progress of each repair to ensure timely completion and quality standards

Coordinate with service advisors to understand customer needs and promised timelines

Communicate with parts department to track parts availability and reduce delays

Adjust dispatching schedules dynamically throughout the day to maintain workflow balance

Ensure all work is documented properly and repair orders are closed out efficiently

Help optimize labor hours by reducing technician idle time

Maintain accurate records of technician productivity and efficiency

Serve as a point of contact between the front-end service team and the shop floor

Assist with technician time clock management and flag time reconciliation

Automotive Dispatcher Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional automotive or business training is a plus

Previous experience in an automotive service or dispatch role strongly preferred

Strong organizational and time management skills

Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure

Working knowledge of automotive repair processes and terminology

Familiarity with dealership or shop management software
