Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and efficient patient care. This full-time, day-shift Medical Assistant role supports licensed nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers in a fast-paced clinical environment.

General Summary

The Medical Assistant operates within their skill set to deliver patient care as delegated by clinical staff. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively while maintaining excellent customer service and critical thinking skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling. Assist patients by escorting them to exam rooms, obtaining vital signs, EKGs, and verifying medications, allergies, and medical history. Document patient information accurately and promptly in medical records. Manage phone communications, route messages, and act as a liaison between patients and providers. Communicate test results to patients and assist with follow-up calls. Administer medications as ordered and perform point-of-care lab testing. Schedule appointments, procedures, and complete necessary paperwork including prior authorizations and referrals. Maintain supply inventory and ensure exam areas are clean and well-stocked. Educate patients on electronic health record portals and assist with enrollment. Support orientation and training of new medical assistants. Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, and reliability in attendance and performance.

Education

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program or equivalent experience. High school diploma required.

Experience

At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or related medical specialist preferred. Experience in a clinical setting is advantageous.

Certification and Licenses

Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

Requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, walking, standing, and various movements such as stooping and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with hostile individuals. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
