The Department oversees a broad range of New Mexico's arts and cultural heritage agencies. These include 15 divisions representing a variety of programs and services
Why does the job exist?
This position is responsible for cleaning/maintaining all the buildings as well as setting up for special events for the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC).
How does it get done?
Perform janitorial services to include:
--Heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass --Collecting and removing trash, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming carpets, carpet extraction, dusting --Exterminating insects, rodents, cleaning windows waxing and stripping floors --Cleaning outside of the buildings and making sure the campus is free of litter by doing walk throughs -- Replenishing the hygiene items in the bathrooms and janitorial storage areas
Who are the customers?
This position serves NHCC, Department of Cultural Affairs, NHCC Board of Directors, visitors, and the general public.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate must be able to inspect building areas to ensure that work has been done properly, issue supplies, equipment and inventory stocks; prepare purchase requisitions for supplies and equipment; perform specialized janitorial services; and provide training and assistance to less experienced workers
Minimum Qualification
Eighth grade education.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a museum setting with many visitors, extensive use of cleaning supplies and cleaning tools is required. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
