NICU RN Job Details

  • Location: Portland, OR 97213 (Oregon nursing jobs)
  • Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
  • Unit: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Level 3 or 4 NICU)
  • Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 12/8/2025 – End: 3/9/2026)
  • Shifts: 3x12-hour rotating shifts (Days: 07:00-19:00, Nights: 19:00-07:00)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $2010 - $2160 per week
  • On-Site Position
  • Parking: Free on-site parking

NICU RN Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon or eligibility to obtain prior to start
  • Minimum 1 year of recent NICU RN experience (Level 3 or 4 preferred; strong Level 2 NICU experience considered)
  • Previous Charge RN and delivery/resuscitation experience required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required (American Heart Association preferred)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system
  • Reliable vehicle required for assignment (potential floating to nearby healthcare facilities)
  • Ability to float between NICU, maternity, and mother-baby units as needed
  • 2 supervisory references covering 1 year within the last 3 years

NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert nursing care to neonates and infants in a Level 3 or 4 NICU setting
  • Serve as Charge RN as scheduled, with applicable pay differential
  • Perform neonatal delivery and resuscitation duties
  • Manage arterial lines, central/implanted lines, bubble CPAP, ventilators (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), and advanced NICU equipment
  • Administer feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and medications including steroids and surfactants
  • Care for neonates with complex diagnoses, including premature infants under 28 weeks gestation
  • Float to maternity or mother-baby units as needed (providing patient care if experienced)
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic EHR
  • Participate in self-scheduling and rotating weekends/holidays as required
