CVICU RN Job Details

• Location: Albuquerque, NM 87102
• Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse (locum tenens)
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (18:30 - 07:00)
• Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/13/2025 – End: 1/12/2026)
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Unit Size: 16 beds, average daily census of 10
• Orientation: 36 hours onsite

CVICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active NM or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU nursing experience
• Prior travel nurse experience required
• Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Proven experience caring for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Ability to float to similar critical care units as needed
• Professional appearance: scrubs (any color, no logo)

CVICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to cardiovascular ICU patients
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, and ventilated patients in a critical care setting
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP management, and blood product administration
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Care for patients following cardiac surgery and cardiac interventions
• Support infection prevention and isolation protocols in the ICU
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy
• Participate in orientation modules and ongoing clinical training onsite
