CVICU RN Job Details
- Location: Bloomington, Indiana
- Facility: 4E - ICU/PCU, Short-Term Acute Care Hospital
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1890–$1940
- Patient Ratios: ICU 1:2, PCU/MedSurg 1:4-5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
- Scrub Colors: Black bottoms, red tops
- Charting System: Cerner EMR
- Parking: Free onsite parking
CVICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
- Minimum 18 months of recent CVICU or ICU nursing experience
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS preferred
- Proficient in dysrhythmia interpretation, post-cardiac surgery care, arterial and central line management, blood product administration, and ventilator management
- Ability to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Comfortable floating within scope to meet facility needs
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment
- Travel nursing or locum tenens experience preferred but not required
- Two supervisor references required
CVICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in CVICU, PCU, and MedSurg units
- Monitor and manage post-cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
- Perform arterial and central line care, blood product administration, and ventilator management
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Care for patients with ventricular assist devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and post-cardiac cath/intervention
- Float as needed to other hospital units or affiliate hospitals
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Document patient care accurately using Cerner EMR
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment for patients and families
