Psychiatric RN Job Details

• Weekend/Call: No call required
• Floating: May float to other behavioral health units within a 25-mile radius

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Iowa RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing (travel nursing experience required)
• ADN or BSN degree
• Mandatory reporter certification (Child and Adult)
• Background checks (Iowa SING BG: Criminal and Child Abuse portions required; all counties and states must be fully cleared prior to start)
• Recent titers within last 12 months (MMR, Hep B, Varicella, TB)
• 10-panel drug screening (including opiates)
• Strong clinical skills in managing patients with anxiety, depression, manic disorders, borderline personality, and suicidal ideation

Psychiatric RN Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care to adults with behavioral health and psychiatric needs, including assessment, medication administration, and therapeutic interventions
• Monitor and document patient progress using MediTech EHR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, coping strategies, and available resources
• Adhere to all regulatory and facility policies, including mandatory reporting and infection control
• Float to other behavioral health units within a 25-mile radius as needed
