Overview
Construction Management Business Class Director (Water Business Group) role at HDR. The primary duty is to provide strategic national focus on positioning HDR as a preferred provider for construction services in the water infrastructure industry. The Director will provide business development leadership, project delivery guidance, and group leadership/communications across the Water Business Group. This position reports to the WBG Service Delivery Director. Responsibilities
Business Development:
Maintain market intelligence regarding industry competition, potential partners, acquisitions and/or new hires. Capture HDR and competitor SOQs, proposals, presentations, scopes of work with associated fees. Ensure regions maintain CM pursuit target lists and Client Maintenance plans relevant to CM delivery. Support capture planning efforts, preproposal visits, qualifications and proposal preparation to create a formulaic approach to HDR CM business development and client interaction. Provide marketing support on pursuits to elevate HDR’s selection hit rate. Maintain List of Major CM or PM/CM or OA/CM Projects. Maintain Tool Kit, related SharePoint sites and promote best practices/tools across the Business Group. Implement Presentation/Interview training workshops for all Senior Construction Managers. Project Delivery:
Capture/disseminate relevant CM delivery lessons learned; ensure use of HDR best practices, templates, and protocols for consistent CM delivery nationwide. Work with other Business Class Directors on delivery of existing projects and developing long-term tactical plans for the water construction services program. Provide principal level project management and issue resolution when needed. Track/trend actual project delivery costs against budget; incorporate lessons learned into future scope/fee development. Maintain CM/CI resources and provide CM resource planning across the Business Group. Lead PARR reviews for projects entering the construction phase; train staff to be Lead Reviewers; attend reviews as needed. Perform project site audits to ensure proper CM protocol and address performance with the Owner. Promote RAKEN Field Reporting App and update HDR Technical Guidelines; manage annual license renewals and seat distribution; coordinate payments. Promote and administer Newforma Construction Administration (Newforma CA) software for workflows and dashboards; coordinate with relevant stakeholders. Serve as the WBG point of contact on CMIS questions; update and maintain HDR Construction Management Manual, procedures, forms & field checklists. Construction Management Leadership and Communications:
Reinvigorate CM Practice Community; plan and conduct regular CM Practice calls and broadcast wins and lessons learned. Collaborate with Field Services Communications Director and other leadership; participate in Field Services Steering Committee. Lead CMAA engagement; represent HDR as a CMAA member and coordinate dues, sponsorships, and project nominations; maintain CCM designation pursuit among HDR employees. Ensure WBG CM staff development with a training plan and sessions. Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or Engineering with 15+ years of experience in managing construction delivery programs for the water infrastructure industry. PE or related professional certifications are desirable. This position can be located in any US HDR office. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering, or closely related field; 10+ years of related experience; professional registration; proven ability to develop and manage diverse teams; ability to work cooperatively with other leaders; commitment to quality and HDR values; active participation in employee-owned culture.
