Senior Principal Microelectronics Semiconductor Photolithography Process Engineer - R10203917 Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Microelectronics Semiconductor Photolithography Process Engineer to join the Advanced Packaging Technology µ-Line in Apopka, Florida. This role involves providing manufacturing and development support and direction for photolithography processes and tools, with emphasis on resist coating, exposure, development, and related metrology. The position requires a mix of craft, engineering, and leadership to drive process improvements and enable technology milestones in a cleanroom environment.

What You’ll Do

Provide manufacturing and development technical support and direction on photolithography processes and tools, including 1x manual and automated lithography systems.

Collaborate with Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Integration, and R&D to ensure process stability, improve yield, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Plan and execute photolithography improvement projects to increase yield, productivity, and cost effectiveness, including rework improvements.

Define and implement lithography process improvements for new technology insertion to meet yield and reliability milestones.

Develop new technologies across emerging semiconductor manufacturing technologies, including photochemical, reticle, and lithography processes.

Work with GDS files and program/foundry information to complete mask reviews and ensure designs meet rules and guidelines; create die drawings specific to each program for operators to run the product.

Mentor and train technicians on shift to support quality and delivery metrics.

Execute strategic projects for sustaining operations using SPC, disposition of out-of-spec material, and data-driven decision making (DOE, FMEA, etc.).

Lead root cause and corrective actions using 8D problem-solving methodologies; drive improvements for volume manufacturing through tool qualification and OEE management.

Support process control, planning, safety, and quality to ensure equipment meets cost, quality, safety, and reliability metrics.

Coordinate with production on day-to-day activities and assist in resolving workflow issues; support capacity planning for photo production lines and digital transformation initiatives.

Position requires significant time in a cleanroom environment with some lifting and standing.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of experience in microelectronics semiconductor engineering or production OR a Master’s degree with at least 6 years of experience OR a PhD with at least 4 years of experience.

Experience with photolithography, process control, and semiconductor processing; setup, support, and troubleshooting of lithography processes and tools.

Experience in a manufacturing environment; knowledge of DOE, SPC, and 6-sigma concepts for process development and control; project management experience.

Proficiency with MS Office and ERP systems (SAP); ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance; US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with MATLAB, VBA, CAD software (AutoCAD, NX or similar), Minitab, and SAP MRP.

Experience with UBM and solder bump metallurgy, lead and lead-free bump technologies, and flip-chip/2.5D/3D packaging.

Active Secret Clearance and Black Belt certification.

Primary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00. Final offers are based on the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply depending on the position.
