Under general supervision, administers all academic personnel activities for the Department of Anthropology. Supports the Chair and Business Officer in executing duties related to academic personnel, including merit and promotion cases, faculty recruitment, occasional postdoc and other research appointments, UCPath hiring, UC Recruit, and additional compensation. Coordinate ladder faculty recruitment and related processes, including planning, approvals, visas, notices, and files; ensure compliance with policies; manage external reviewer coordination and deadlines. Coordinate temporary faculty recruitment, including advertisements, candidate communication, new hire paperwork, and payroll entries in UCPath. Administrative support during the Academic Personnel review cycle; handle leave requests, sabbatical credits, faculty evaluations, and confidential files. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Strong organizational skills Ability to handle multiple tasks under deadlines and heavy workloads Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and attention to detail Confidentiality, good judgment, discretion Ability to work with minimal supervision and solve problems creatively Ability to work independently and as part of a team with faculty Proficiency with BOX, Google Docs and Sheets Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a higher education setting 1-3 years in a UCSB academic department 1-3 years experience with UCPath, UC Recruit, AP Folio 1-3 years academic personnel experience Ability to work in a large open office setting Special Conditions Of Employment
