GEICO is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Engineering Manager in our Service Engineering- Policy Management Services organization with a passion for building high performance, low-latency platforms, and applications. You will build and manage a team of engineers with a deep focus on delivering robust experience improvements and system-wide products to operate in a highly performant and efficient way. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we redefine experiences for our customers. Position Responsibilities

Lead defining the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap to increase velocity of product delivery and unlock new engineering capabilities in the servicing organization. Collaborate with Product Management to develop roadmaps and strategy, including reporting on OKRs and KPIs for your team and services delivered. Report on project progress and key metrics, and present implementable ideas for areas to improve product or project delivery. Understand how requirements and design choices may impact systems across multiple areas, influencing direction across the organization. Initiate and support performance evaluation of team members; cultivate a culture of motivation and achievement; build trust within the team. Address technical or analytical skill gaps and challenge team members to learn new technologies. Contribute as a hands-on technical leader to architecture, system design and implementation of services (UI/UX, Experience layers including Angular, React, Flutter, API and microservices, storage/persistence, messaging, etc.). Stay up-to-date with software engineering best practices and help drive AI enablement and technology within teams. Manage up to leadership and provide feedback as needed; drive efficiency and utilization improvements. Participate in team planning, surface proposals, and translate projects into deliverables; adjust priorities and team capacity as needed. Qualifications

Fluency with C#/.NET, HTML-5, JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular/React, XML, JSON, RESTful Web Services, and Event Driven Architectures; Flutter experience is a bonus. Fluency with at least one additional modern language such as Java, Python, or Go; experience with open-source software is a plus. Ability to be hands-on developing software at least 10-20% of the time. Strong knowledge of system design, architecture and full lifecycle of core Services and APIs. Experience with testing (unit, integration, functional, performance) and with RESTful and gRPC services, microservices, and resilient messaging. Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and monitoring tools. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, stateful services, metrics-driven decision making, and site reliability engineering principles. Strong leadership, communication, negotiation skills and ability to foster a culture of trust and continuous improvement. Strategic thinking with the ability to drive projects for positive change. 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including software development lifecycle best practices. 5+ years in a large-scale, mission-critical environment. 5+ years supervising personnel in a technical environment. 2+ years of experience with automated testing (Unit, Integration, End-to-End). Education

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience. Annual Salary
