Job Description and Duties: Will consider Associate Environmental Planner (Architectural History). As an interdisciplinary-team member, the incumbent is responsible for completing architectural history studies and project effects analysis for transportation projects pursuant to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and Public Resource Code 5024 and other applicable state and federal regulations. The position is under the supervision of a Project Delivery Branch Chief, Office of Cultural Resource Studies. The incumbent identifies and evaluates built resources as part of the transportation project development process; prepares written analyses of such resources to aid in the project development process; prepares written analyses of project effects on cultural resources; and develops and recommends avoidance and minimization as needed for compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations. Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Environmental Planner (Architectural History) / Associate Environmental Planner (Architectural History) exam. This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. In-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. The selected candidate will be required to report to the headquartered location as needed. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement is subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location are the responsibility of the selected candidate.
