Overview 0.75 FTE Part time Day - 12 Hour R2548897 Onsite 107390007 Timely Discharge Program. Location: Palo Alto, 300 Pasteur Dr, California. Day shifts: 7a - 7p. A 0.75 FTE position works 5 clinical shifts in a 2 week pay period. Schedule rotates weekends and holidays. The schedule is made 2-3 months in advance and every effort is made to accommodate requested shift frequency and days off. PTO is guaranteed in advance. There is an opportunity to pick up additional shifts based on shift coverage.

Created in July 2021, the Med 7 Inpatient Service is staffed with a hybrid model involving collaboration between physicians and Advance Practice Providers (APP). The APPs are trained in Internal Medicine to manage day-to-day care of hospitalized patients. This is a collaborative and supportive APP/MD team practice opportunity.

Responsibilities

Complete/comprehensive history and physical examination, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies, and prescribing appropriate treatments in collaboration with the attending physician.

Consult with specialist providers and other team members regarding patient condition changes; document care/procedures per policy; communicate/educate with patients and families.

Precepting and mentoring Stanford School of Medicine Physician Assistant students.

Manage common diagnoses on Med 7 inpatient service (examples include Sepsis, Cellulitis, UTI, liver failure, AKI, COPD/asthma exacerbations, UGIB, pancreatitis, ETOH withdrawal, DKA, AMS/Delirium, anemia, atrial fibrillation, syncope, VTE, electrolyte abnormalities).

Follow standardized procedures for assessment, diagnostics, medications, orders, and patient care activities; coordinate admissions/discharges; participate in team rounds and cross training with other APP specialty teams.

Perform designated procedures after demonstrated competency; obtain informed consent; coordinate inpatient/outpatient care and services; ensure compliance with policies and quality initiatives.

Provide patient education and counseling; support goals of care discussions; contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Education & Qualifications

Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.

Graduate of an NP program accredited by NLNAC or CCNE.

Licenses & Certifications

Nursing (RN) state licensure or compact state licensure

NP - Nurse Practitioner

NP Furnishing Number (as applicable)

BLS – Basic Life Support

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $89.01 - $117.94 per hour. Salary will be set based on factors including internal equity, experience, education, and specialty.
