  • Facility: University Hospital – Operating Room (Neuro specialty, Tier 6)
  • Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
  • Start Date: October 27, 2025
  • End Date: February 23, 2026
  • Contract Duration: 17 weeks
  • Shifts: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts (06:40 – 19:10), Monday – Friday
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $2310 - $2370 per week
  • Call: Weekend and weekday call; possible holiday call
  • Floating: May float to other hospital units as needed

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active Wisconsin RN license or compact state nursing license (must be in hand at submission)
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience as an Operating Room Registered Nurse
  • Proven experience circulating in the OR; neuro OR experience required
  • Epic electronic medical record (EMR) experience required
  • Ability to pass a telemetry exam prior to start (strict criteria apply)
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates)
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to plan and coordinate patient care in the Operating Room
  • Circulate for advanced neurosurgical procedures: aneurysm clipping, cervical and lumbar fusion, laminectomy, craniotomy for tumor, subdural hematoma, acoustic tumor removal, and VP shunt placement
  • Operate specialized surgical equipment: sonopet, bone scalpel, bipolar with irrigation, and advanced surgical microscopes (Mitaka, Leica, Kinevo, Pentero)
  • Ensure efficient surgical case progression and turnover
  • Uphold strict infection control, safety protocols, and universal precautions
  • Float to other clinical units as needed
  • Participate in call rotation, including weekends and holidays
