Responsibilities
- Complete nursing assessment of patients on the unit and document appropriately into patient records
- Prepare patients for surgery, including education about procedures and post-operative care
- Coordinate and provide holistic patient care, including mobility support, rehabilitation exercises, and activities of daily living (ADLs), adhering to individualized care plans
- Monitor and evaluate patients’ responses to therapeutic interventions, document progress, and communicate deviations or concerns to the interdisciplinary team
- Safely administer prescribed medications and treatments with proper documentation and safety compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized environment and ensure rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment for rehabilitation care
- Assist with safe patient transport to and from therapy sessions, diagnostic procedures, or other care areas as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a Rehab RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS certification
- NIHSS certification
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
Summary
The Rehabilitation Nurse (Rehab RN) provides comprehensive care to patients recovering from injuries, surgeries, or illnesses that require rehabilitative treatment. This role involves nursing assessments, implementing care plans, monitoring progress, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to help patients regain optimal physical, functional, and emotional well-being. The Rehab RN demonstrates advanced clinical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to patient-centered care and safety.
Essential Work Functions
- Complete nursing assessments and document into patient records
- Prepare patients for procedures and educate about post-operative care
- Coordinate holistic patient care and rehabilitation activities per individualized care plans
