General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. Duties include greeting customers, maintaining a clean work area, proper merchandise presentation, and performing a range of store tasks as needed to support customer service and operations.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors and maintain a safe shopping environment.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor; keep areas clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat customers and associates with respect; greet customers and maintain courteous service.
  • Assist customers as needed; be register-trained, answer questions, and handle transactions professionally.
  • Respond promptly to customer service calls and resolve issues courteously with escalation to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting high-touch areas) to maintain store cleanliness.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Complete daily sizing and recovery per company guidelines to ensure a neat, clean, and merchandised store.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies and proper disposal processes after review by Store Leadership.
  • Follow cash handling, refund, and offline procedures with accuracy and awareness.
  • Work with urgency to maximize productivity and follow Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly and cooperative manner. Basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all store equipment (PDTs, registers, PCs) as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of shift.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop as needed.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds (and more than 20 pounds for stockroom shifts).
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • Other qualifications may apply depending on assignment.
