General Purpose: The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, and follows company standards to maintain a clean work area and proper merchandise presentation. The role may include performing a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require.

Essential Functions

• Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in all duties.
• Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe, secure environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
• Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
• Assist Customers as needed: register-trained, assist with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a "Hello" throughout the Store; thank Customers at every register transaction.
• Respond promptly to Customer Service calls and handle issues courteously; involve Store Leadership when needed.
• Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
• Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors) and replenish restroom supplies; disinfect high-touch areas to maintain store areas.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company dress code.
• Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, organized, and merchandised to standards.
• Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor per best practices and monthly presentation guidelines; maintain merchandise/brand name familiarity within departments.
• Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist role (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
• Safeguard confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise; demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions.
• Follow MOS (Mark-Out-of-Stock) policies and proper disposition processes with Store Leadership approval.
• Follow policies and procedures for cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline transactions; maintain accuracy handling bankable tenders.
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

• Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

• Use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
• Stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of the time.
• Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
• Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
• Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
• Stockroom roles may require pushing, pulling and lifting more than 20 pounds.
