ER RN Job Details – Springfield, IL

• Location: Springfield, Illinois 62781
• Healthcare Setting: Level I Trauma Center, 56-bed Emergency Department
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel/Contract Nursing Job)
• Start Date: October 13, 2025
• End Date: January 12, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15), 3-4 shifts per week
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Parking: Free with permit

ER Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience (adult and pediatric)
• Active Illinois RN license or in application process
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC (AHA or Red Cross)
• Proficiency with Cerner charting system
• Ability to interpret/manage cardiac dysrhythmias, perform 12-lead EKGs, and manage multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• IV therapy skills: blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting IVs
• Medication administration: emergency meds, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation
• Experience with trauma, neurological, orthopedic, pediatric, psychiatric, and respiratory emergencies
• Isolation precautions and triage experience
• Ability to float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced Emergency Department
• Perform comprehensive assessments, triage, and prioritize patient care based on acuity
• Initiate and manage IV therapy, administer emergency medications, and perform procedural sedation
• Interpret cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to emergency situations
• Care for patients with trauma, neurological, orthopedic, pediatric, psychiatric, and respiratory emergencies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and social workers
• Document all care and interventions accurately in the Cerner EMR system
• Maintain strict infection control and isolation precautions
• Participate in ongoing nursing education and orientation as required
