  • Location: Lafayette, IN 47905 (Indiana healthcare jobs)
  • Assignment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Registered Nurse
  • Start Date: November 4, 2025
  • End Date: February 3, 2026
  • Duration: 13-week nursing contract
  • Shift: 5x8-hour day shifts (07:00 – 15:30)
  • Hours per Week: 40 (guaranteed)
  • On-Call: 4 night shifts/month (mix of weekday and weekend nights)
  • Weekend Requirement: At least 1 weekend night shift/month
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Scrub Color: Black bottoms, red top
  • Parking: Free onsite parking

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Indiana or compact state; must be in hand prior to start date)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience (perioperative nursing)
  • Current BCLS certification (required)
  • ACLS and PALS certifications (preferred)
  • Experience with Cerner electronic charting (required)
  • Strong Ortho and DaVinci XI robotics experience (required)
  • Ability to circulate in the OR and start IVs (required)
  • Conscious sedation and craniotomy experience (preferred)
  • Teaching hospital or community hospital experience (preferred)
  • Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Two supervisor references required
  • Willingness to float within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed

Operating Room RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing orthopedic, urology, general surgery, neurology, GYN, and robotic-assisted procedures
  • Circulate and assist in the operating room, ensuring patient safety and strict adherence to sterile technique
  • Start peripheral IVs and administer conscious sedation as needed
  • Utilize DaVinci robotic systems for advanced surgical procedures
  • Participate in emergency procedures, including craniotomies and orthopedic surgeries
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and more)
  • Float to other units or affiliate hospitals as required for clinical support
  • Participate in on-call rotation, including night and weekend shifts
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Cerner
