General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets Customers courteously, treats fellow Associates with respect, and follows company standards to maintain a clean work area and proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of tasks across store areas as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to support customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
  • Maintain floor awareness to create a safe, secure shopping environment; keep egress clear; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers and use company recognition programs to acknowledge peers.
  • Assist Customers: register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers with eye contact, smiles, and a friendly tone.
  • Provide prompt, courteous responses to Customer Service needs and escalate to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Assist with daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor following monthly presentation guidelines; maintain brand name familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information and handle cash/credit card information securely.
  • Follow MOS policies for identifying, processing, and disposing of MIS merchandise as needed.
  • Adhere to cash, check, charge card, and refund procedures with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflows.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; push/pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment and operate rolling racks and ladders as needed.
  • Stockroom shifts require pushing, pulling and lifting more than 20 pounds.
