General Purpose

The Retail Associate ensures customers have a positive shopping experience. Responsibilities include greeting customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treating colleagues with respect, following company standards, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring proper merchandise presentation. The Associate performs a range of tasks across store areas as business needs require, and may take on additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors at all times
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to create a safe, secure environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions
  • Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; recognize colleagues through company recognition programs
  • Assist customers; be register-trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers regularly
  • Provide prompt responses to customer service needs; respond to service calls and involve Store Leadership when needed
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times
  • Perform cleaning tasks and replenish supplies to maintain store areas and restrooms
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code
  • Maintain neat, clean, and organized store per daily tasks and merchandising standards
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor according to presentation guidelines
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card data, and merchandise
  • Follow MOS policies for identification, disposal reviews, and notifications
  • Handle cash, checks, cards and refunds accurately and securely
  • Work with a sense of urgency to maximize productivity following store best practices

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly, respectful manner
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of the shift
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop
  • Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies
  • Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills
  • Stockroom associates: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds
