Overview
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers in a courteous and friendly manner, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The role requires engagement in assigned tasks across store areas as business needs require, and may include additional tasks to support customer service and store operations.
Responsibilities
- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe, secure environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions.
- Treat customers and fellow associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow associates using company programs.
- Assist customers by being register-trained, helping with merchandise, answering questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers with eye contact and a smile; say thank you at each transaction.
- Provide prompt and efficient responses to customer service needs; escalate to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks to maintain a neat store and assist with merchandise presentation.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
- Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, organized store that is well merchandised.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and follow monthly presentation guidelines.
- Know about Loss Prevention practices and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash and customer data.
- Follow MOS policies and proper disposal review with Store Leadership.
- Follow cash, check, charge card and refund procedures with accuracy.
- Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by following store best practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to communicate with customers, associates and leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations used in retail environments.
- Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; ability to lift up to 25 pounds (some roles may involve heavier lifts).
- Ability to use janitorial equipment and assist with store maintenance tasks.
