The Buckle, Inc. is hiring for the Assistant Store Manager role. The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Responsibilities include a mix of sales, merchandising, and store operations, with duties such as cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities. The role works directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates, and provide leadership. The AIT and Assistant Manager will share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and may act as the Store Manager in the absence of the Store Manager. The Assistant Manager position is a progression from the AIT position with additional high-level duties, though most job duties and responsibilities are shared.

Responsibilities
Sales Generation and Guest Service: Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude; answer questions regarding store and merchandise; recommend and locate merchandise; anticipate guest needs; demonstrate product knowledge; maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies, and security practices; achieve personal sales goals; provide legendary service in front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area; know exchange and return procedures; use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily; strive to meet Buckle business builders and guest loyalty metrics; expand guest selection via inventory tools; build client-based relationships; lead by example with showmanship and high customer service standards; communicate Guest Levels to the team; coach Teammates through feedback; maintain leadership presence when the Manager is absent; plan sales goals with Store Manager.
Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development: Recognize recruiting opportunities; coach and develop new Teammates; maintain positive floor culture; model professional dress; participate in daily setup and training; motivate Teammates; conduct leadership playbook training; support recruitment of store staff; explain pay and Buckle benefits; maintain talent pipelines and perform SPG Teammate/leader training shifts; train non-sales positions; adapt to changing sales focuses.
Visual Merchandise Management: Own and influence product through zone ownership; implement new tools and videos; delegate and review zone ownership; ensure adherence to Visual Standards; review merchandising opportunities and lifecycle of product; conduct store tours; ensure appropriate display of new freight; drive performance through the Performance Tracker; anticipate product changes and improve visual results; maintain visual standards on floor and backroom.
Operations: Maintain a flexible schedule; use planning tools and Opening/Closing Checklists; monitor security, handle loss prevention; execute POS procedures; manage Corporate Office communications; handle guest/teammate situations professionally; apply Buckle policies on payments, returns, and losses; navigate home page tools; supervise non-sales positions; complete shifts and ensure a clean, shoppable store; provide merchandise handling feedback; report concerns to leadership and HR; adhere to Buckle Code of Ethics; complete new hire paperwork per guidelines; manage markdowns, inbound/outbound freight, RTVs; foster relationships with Corporate Office; maintain inventory of supplies; respond to emergencies in the Store Manager’s absence.
Supervisory and Leadership: Provide and receive feedback; support Leadership; promote personal and store growth; maintain professional relationships with Teammates; conduct daily interviews as needed; problem-solve obstacles; self-educate on company tools and share knowledge; implement Buckle Commitment to Success; travel to cover other stores as needed; manage schedule changes professionally; uphold Buckle mission and customer service standards; handle special projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities Assists the Store Manager in supervising.
Education And/or Experience High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related retail experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
