ER RN Job Details – Oakland, CA
- Location: Oakland, CA 94609 (Bay Area, California nursing jobs)
- Healthcare Setting: Emergency Department (32 beds, average 115 visits/day)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (10/27/2025 – 1/26/2026)
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12 hours per week (19:00–07:00 or 23:00–11:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2070–$2210
- Floating: May float to nearby Alta Bates Campus (within 5 miles)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On Call: As needed
ER Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room RN experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS (all AHA, current at submission)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system preferred
- Ability to provide clinical care for diverse patient populations: infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics
- Available for lab work within 3-5 days of signing
- Background information must be disclosed prior to submission
- Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (locals accepted at local rate)
ER Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care from admission to discharge in the emergency department
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care
- Prioritize and provide care in both routine and complex emergency situations
- Serve as a liaison between nursing and medical staff to ensure collaborative patient care
- Coordinate care with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
- Initiate and direct emergency interventions efficiently and competently
- Administer treatments and medications, performing essential nursing skills promptly
- Monitor and document patient status, acuity, and response to care using clinical support systems
- Participate in orientation, e-learning modules, and ongoing professional development for healthcare professionals
- Float to other units as needed and provide coverage every other weekend
