  • Facility: 2 West Ortho-Telemetry Unit (39 beds)
  • Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse (locum tenens)
  • Start Date: October 30, 2025
  • End Date: January 29, 2026
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), every other weekend required
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
  • Orientation: Every other Thursday
  • Scrub Colors: Royal Blue/White (RN)
  • Parking: Free for travel nurses

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric orthopedic and telemetry patients
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and administer IV drips
  • Care for patients with acute MI, unstable angina, CHF, arrhythmias, and post-surgical needs
  • Support observation unit with high patient turnover (average stay 36 hours or less)
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and more)
  • Float to other nursing units within scope as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner electronic charting system
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while ensuring safety and satisfaction

Qualifications

  • Active West Virginia or Compact RN license (pending license accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (orthopedic and telemetry nursing preferred)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association required)
  • Proficient in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with post-cardiac cath, post-angiogram, and PTCA patients
  • Skilled in managing drips: heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, nitro
  • Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Every other weekend and limited holiday coverage required
  • Must reside at least 100 miles from facility (75-99 miles considered for approval)
  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
  • Two recent manager or charge nurse references (within the past 2 years)
