- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shifts: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30); Eve/Night, 12's and 8's as needed (15:00-03:30 or 19:00-07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend & Holiday Rotation: Required
- Patient Ratios: 1:4
- Orientation: 20 hours
ER Nurse Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Wisconsin RN license or compact nursing license (must be in hand at submittal)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience with both adult and pediatric patients
- Prior travel nursing experience in a similar size hospital required
- Experience with Epic charting system (preferred within last 12 months)
- Basic Arrhythmia experience; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
- BLS, ACLS, PALS (American Heart Association only), and TNCC certifications required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (local candidates not accepted)
- Ability to float to multiple units/locations as needed
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
Emergency Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatric patients
- Perform diagnostic interventions, immediate consultations for cardiac catheterization, Level I trauma care, acute stroke care, burn center, operative procedures, and special diagnostic testing
- Coordinate care with ground ambulances and Med Flight for critically ill and injured patients
- Manage high-acuity cases including STEMI, trauma, ECMO/ECPR, and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Administer emergency medications, blood products, and sedation as needed
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias; manage central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, and ventilated patients
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotations, and float to other units as required
- Maintain strict adherence to hospital protocols, infection control, and safety standards
