Third Coast Bank The Senior Credit Officer serves as a key partner to Market Presidents and Relationship Managers across Corporate and Middle Market business lines. This role is responsible for driving profitable growth within disciplined credit parameters — ensuring sound underwriting, proactive portfolio oversight, and alignment with the Bank’s risk appetite. Working closely with the Regional Credit Officer, this leader provides strategic credit guidance, mentors credit professionals, and ensures the consistent application of the Bank’s credit philosophy and culture across markets.
Job Responsibilities
Partner with Corporate and Middle Market business lines to proactively evaluate the creditworthiness of complex high-exposure transactions, ensuring decisions align with the bank’s risk appetite and underwriting guidelines.
Provide guidance to teams on deal qualification assessment, due diligence, and loan structuring.
Assist RCO in monitoring the overall loan portfolio for risk, ensuring the portfolio is routinely monitored, the risk ratings are accurately assigned, and problem credits are identified early on.
Provide guidance to credit and lending teams, contributing to team member development and a strong credit culture within the bank.
Manage Portfolio Managers and help coach and train Underwriters.
Coordinate with internal partners & internal discussions on all credit matters.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Experience lending in syndicated structures and managing credits with complex capital structures.
Deep expertise in cash flow, enterprise value, and leveraged finance underwriting.
Proven ability to exercise sound, independent judgment in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Strong command of banking regulations, credit policy, and loan documentation.
Demonstrate ability to balance risk and return, promote responsible expansion of credit relationships.
Must be able to identify risks inherent in complex loan transactions and address/mitigate accordingly.
Must possess disciplined approach to overseeing and managing risk in portfolio.
Must possess a proficient knowledge of credit policy, banking regulations, and loan documentation.
Must understand and work effectively within the credit culture of the company.
Strong administrative, communication/interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Must be able to develop and maintain cohesive, cooperative internal and external working relationships.
Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
Min 10+ years of significant experience in a Wholesale Credit or in combination Credit and Commercial Lending position operating in a complex banking environment.
Previous management experience, directing teams/team members
Advanced knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies
Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation, including use of word, excel, and office
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
