Overview

The Buckle, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Store Manager (also listed as Assistant in Training) to fulfill our mission: to create the most enjoyable shopping experience for our Guests. The AIT/Assistant Manager supports store management with sales, merchandising, and operational tasks, works with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales and recruit Teammates, trains and motivates Teammates, and may act as Store Manager in their absence. The position is a progression from the AIT role with additional responsibilities.

Sales Generation and Guest Service

Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service

Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise

Recommend and locate merchandise based on Guest needs

Suggest additional items to fulfill Guest needs and create a wardrobe experience

Demonstrate product knowledge and share sales education with the team

Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies, and security practices

Meet or exceed personal sales goals; contribute to store sales performance

Provide legendary service across Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area

Understand exchange and return procedures and leverage opportunities for showmanship

Use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) to achieve goals

Build and maintain guest relationships to develop a client-based business

Lead by example with showmanship and customer service; coach teammates as needed

Communicate guest levels and update the team on sales initiatives

Collaborate with management to plan sales goals and own the store’s sales performance

Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development

Recognize recruiting opportunities and use available referral channels

Coach and develop new Teammates to meet Buckle standards on daily duties

Maintain a positive floor culture and professional appearance

Participate in daily setup, training, and performance tracking

Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks and demonstrate denim showmanship

Assist in recruitment of store staffing needs and educate on pay and Buckle Benefits

Provide training and coaching for non-sales positions as needed

Follow leadership playbooks and maintain accountability for all responsibilities

Visual Merchandise Management

Own zone ownership and guide Teammates in zones and projects with learning goals

Execute new tools/videos for zone ownership and anticipate merchandising needs

Collaborate with Store Manager to review zones and ensure visual standards are met

Maintain adherence to Visual Standards and the Visual Library

Identify merchandising opportunities from freight to floor and lifecycle of product

Provide store tours and ensure floor readiness and appropriate freight display

Drive store performance through visual and planogram execution

Proactively adjust visuals to improve overall results

Operations

Maintain a flexible schedule, including holidays and peak events as needed

Utilize planning tools and complete opening/closing checklists

Monitor security risks and follow Loss Prevention guidelines

Execute POS procedures and communicate with Corporate as needed

Maintain a positive attitude with Guests and Teammates

Adhere to all policies on payments, returns, exchanges, and Loss Prevention

Navigate and use store tools; supervise non-sales positions as appropriate

Complete shifts, keep the store clean and shoppable, and communicate concerns to leadership

Support merchandising handling and policy compliance; assist in emergencies in the manager’s absence

Supervisory and Leadership

Give and receive feedback constructively; support Leadership

Promote personal and store growth; maintain professional relationships with Teammates

Conduct interviews as needed to support Team development

Achieve company standards and stay informed on tools and resources

Travel to cover other stores within the district when required

Adjust schedules professionally and uphold Buckle’s mission and positive team spirit

Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned

Education And/or Experience High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related retail experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel, including overnight as required

Physical Demands Regular standing, walking, handling, reaching, climbing, and other duties as described; ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs; vision requirements as listed.

Work Environment Retail store setting with a moderate noise level.
