Position Overview

Director, Commercial Finance Reporting directly to the Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis, the Director of Commercial Finance will be responsible for leading the development of financial forecasts and monitoring performance against established goals. This role analyzes business results across brands, customers, and sales channels, providing actionable insights that support strategic and operational decision-making. The Director will act as the main finance partner to the Marketing and Sales teams, evaluating the financial impact of commercial initiatives and ensuring that business objectives align with financial performance targets. Experience in the

consumer packaged goods (CPG)

sector is required. Key Responsibilities

Forecasting and Financial Analysis Oversee the company’s forecasting cycles (monthly, quarterly, annual), coordinating with cross-functional teams to build comprehensive P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow projections. Lead monthly performance reviews, explaining variances versus budget and forecast, and ensuring alignment with accounting, operations, and commercial teams. Identify and evaluate financial risks and opportunities, forming an independent view of business performance and presenting findings to senior stakeholders. Prepare clear and insightful management reports and presentations for the executive team and board of directors, summarizing performance trends, KPIs, and forward-looking analyses. Partner with Demand Planning to maintain consistency between financial and operational forecasts, identifying potential issues early. Monitor SG&A spending by function, ensuring variances are properly categorized and explained. Performance Reporting and Business Insights Design and refine analytical models that translate financial and operational data into actionable business insights. Analyze brand, channel, and customer-level performance to uncover the drivers behind sales and margin trends. Integrate external and internal data sources (POS, pricing, market share, consumer data) to explain changes in market dynamics and identify growth opportunities. Deliver data-driven recommendations to enhance business performance and profitability. Continuously improve performance dashboards and reporting processes using modern analytical tools and technology. Marketing and Sales Finance Partnership Develop and manage financial models that estimate the ROI and profitability of marketing and sales initiatives. Partner with Marketing to evaluate the impact of trade promotions, advertising, and shopper programs, guiding resource allocation to the most effective investments. Conduct pricing analyses, assess elasticity, and recommend strategic price adjustments. Provide financial input for joint business planning with key retail partners. Budgeting, Planning, and Process Improvement Lead the annual operating plan and long-range planning processes, ensuring accurate timelines, effective collaboration, and executive alignment. Collaborate with the CFO and CEO to establish revenue and cost targets and manage guidance communications. Enhance the accuracy and consistency of forecasting methodologies and ensure adherence to financial governance standards. Mentor and develop finance team members, promoting analytical rigor and cross-functional communication. Leverage data systems such as Planful, Nielsen, and ERP platforms to extract insights and perform scenario modeling. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CPA/CFA preferred). 8–10 years of progressive experience in FP&A, commercial finance, or a similar role. Prior experience in a

consumer packaged goods (CPG)

environment. Proven success in financial modeling, forecasting, and business performance analysis. Proficiency in tools such as Excel, Power BI, and Tableau; experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and forecasting software preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
