Job Description
To provide clean and well-maintained classrooms, laboratories, and buildings in support of the Mission Statement of the Facilities, Operations and Maintenance Department. Duties include housekeeping, custodial, and maintenance tasks to ensure cleanliness of facilities; repair and replacement of various items (e.g., light fixtures, switches, doors, hardware, windows, locks); typical schedule is Monday to Friday, 3:00pm to 11:30pm. May be required to work outside normal business hours to ensure departmental coverage.
Responsibilities
- Daily - Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures; check restrooms on duty, refill dispensers, remove trash; perform final restroom cleaning toward shift end.
- Daily - Clean chalkboards/whiteboards, dust and wipe furniture, sweep/mop/vacuum floors, empty wastebaskets and recycle containers, wash door glass.
- Daily - Remove debris in exterior entries and ensure entry cleanliness.
- Security - Lock/unlock buildings, secure premises, check for unlocked doors/windows, report unauthorized occupants.
- Maintain inventories and prepare simple reports; requisition supplies and equipment.
- Assist other maintenance staff as needed to complete work orders.
- Prepare areas for next day activities; move furniture or set up for special events.
- Identify maintenance needs and submit work orders; leave notes in the Facilities, Operations and Maintenance office as needed.
- Strip, clean, buff, and apply floor finish; shampoo carpets.
- Spot clean carpets, wash walls and equipment as needed.
- Assist in setting up facilities for meetings, conferences, and events; move and arrange tables and chairs; provide clean and sanitized spaces.
- Clean interior and accessible exterior windows as required.
- Operate cleaning equipment and power tools; maintain equipment cleanliness and report maintenance needs.
- Follow safety instructions for chemicals and PPE; perform tasks safely.
- May direct student workers performing minor custodial duties under supervision.
- May perform cleaning in areas within reasonable distance from buildings, including snow removal and power washing of stairs/entries.
- Perform related duties as required; may perform minor maintenance tasks such as caulking and small repairs; capable of moving heavy items up to 50 lbs; able to stand, walk, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks as described.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and write; ability to perform required work.
- Six months to one year of custodial, general or building maintenance, groundskeeping, or semi-skilled carpentry/electrical/plumbing repair work, or equivalent education/experience.
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and use hands. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and climbing; ability to work in various temperatures and tolerate dust and noise; good vision and hearing with/without correction.
Conditions of Employment
One 40-hour-per-week position. Classified employees represented by WFSE. State of Washington benefits package available.

Compensation
- Monthly Salary: Range 36 ($3,262 - $4,216)
- Hourly Rate: $18.75 - $24.23
- Additional shift differential pay: $435.00 monthly or $2.50 per hour
