Overview
Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Locum Tenens Travel Nursing Job in Urbana, Illinois. 13-week contract for experienced surgical nurses seeking new opportunities in Central Illinois.
Location: Urbana, IL 61801. Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/27/2025 – End: 1/24/2026). Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (12-hour shifts). Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed hours. Estimated Weekly Salary: $2000–$2050 per week. Employment Type: Travel nursing, locum tenens.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality perioperative and post-operative nursing care in the operating room
- Implement evidence-based procedures and nursing practices for surgical patients
- Conduct initial assessments and develop individualized care plans for surgical patients
- Monitor and manage patients with complex surgical needs, including tracheostomies, wound vacs, and ostomies
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care, recovery, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary surgical teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all nursing interventions and patient care
- Promote patient safety by identifying and addressing potential hazards in the OR
- Engage in ongoing professional development and support the growth of fellow healthcare professionals
Qualifications
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
- Associate\'s Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience as an OR RN or in a surgical nursing setting
