Orthopedic RN Job Details:
- Position Type: Locum Tenens, Travel Registered Nurse – Orthopedic Unit
- Location: Urbana, Illinois (61801) – Illinois nursing jobs
- Healthcare Setting: Inpatient Orthopedic Unit, Trauma Level 1 Facility
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/20/2025, End: 1/17/2026)
- Shifts: 3x12 hour day shifts per week (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2040 - $2100
Registered Nurse Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum 1 year of recent orthopedic or medical-surgical nursing experience
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Experience with EPIC EMR systems
- Ability to float to similar inpatient units as needed
Orthopedic RN Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to orthopedic patients in accordance with hospital policies and the scope of practice
- Apply nursing theories and procedures specific to orthopedic and medical/surgical care
- Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Continuously evaluate and modify care plans based on patient progress
- Educate patients and families on wound care, mobility, medication management, and care transitions
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Delegate and supervise interventions performed by healthcare support staff
- Set up and manage orthopedic traction and surgical traction devices
- Administer and monitor wound appliances, including wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing care in the EMR
- Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing hazards
- Participate in ongoing professional development and required annual education
