Assistant Professor of Instruction - Geology in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Texas State University. This is a non-tenure-track Faculty of Instruction position at the Assistant Professor rank to begin Spring 2026. The hire supports and grows the Geology Minor program offered by the Department. Responsibilities

Provide high-quality undergraduate teaching with a demonstrated record of excellence in classroom instruction. Contribute to the Geology Minor program and support the Department’s instructional goals. Specialization in teaching geology courses and coordinating teaching efforts for geology laboratories, with potential supervision of graduate teaching assistants. Respect Texas State University’s policy for instructional faculty appointments, including promotion eligibility and terms up to five years, contingent on annual reviews and recommendations for reappointment. Qualifications

Required Ph.D. in Geology, Geosciences, or a closely aligned Earth Systems Science (geosphere) field. A demonstrated record of excellence in undergraduate teaching. Demonstrated ability to teach geology courses including Introduction to Geology, Historical Geology, and Sedimentation and Stratigraphy. Preferred Demonstrated or potential ability to teach Hydrogeology and other upper-division geology courses (please check the online catalog for a full list of geology courses offered). Demonstrated ability to supervise graduate teaching assistants and coordinate geology laboratories. Demonstrated ability to teach Fundamentals of GIS. Application Procedures
