Job Description and Duties The Division of Engineering Services (DES), Structure Construction (SC), is recruiting to fill a Senior Bridge Engineer (Supervisory) position in San Mateo County.
This position reports directly to the Supervising Bridge Engineer. The incumbent is responsible for and manages a staff of engineering employees on multiple structure projects while managing field staff on smaller structure projects.

Special Requirements
Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
Statement of Qualification (SOQ) is required.
The SOQ must be typed, single spaced, 12-point font, and no more than two (2) pages in length. Applicants who do not follow these requirements may be disqualified from the recruitment. Cover letters and resumes do not take the place of the SOQ. The SOQ must be submitted along with the State Application.

Describe your knowledge and experience in bridge construction methods and engineering, bridge rehabilitation and maintenance techniques, structural analysis, project development process, procedures, and philosophies.
Demonstrate knowledge of supervisory and management skills and responsibilities (e.g., work balancing, developing budgets, employee safety, employee development, employee conduct and discipline).
Demonstrate your ability to analyze facts, data, and situations, using problem solving techniques.
Demonstrate your ability to negotiate and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing (e.g., writing technical reports, group presentations, and public forums).
Demonstrate your ability to maintain strong working relationships and establish and maintain partnerships within districts and with external partners.
