Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (required for Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Minimum 5 years of psychiatric or mental health nursing experience
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browsing)
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Psychiatric Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric nursing care to patients in a clinical setting
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to create and implement individualized care plans
• Respond effectively to patients, families, and colleagues in a fast-paced environment
• Maintain accurate, confidential patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations
• Utilize crisis prevention and intervention techniques as needed
• Demonstrate professionalism and a patient-centered approach at all times
• Adapt to new healthcare technologies and electronic medical records systems
• Ensure responsible handling and timely return of unit keys at assignment completion
