Job Description And Duties Under the general direction of a Supervisory Senior Transportation Engineer, the incumbent will assist in designing drainage, provide oversight of Consultant drainage design, and assist with all other hydraulics matters within the nine Counties from which District 4 is comprised. Duties may include: the development of drainage plans, specifications and estimates for a variety of transportation related projects; the oversight of drainage related work prepared by the Consultant to ensure it is completed in accordance with acceptable Caltrans processes and standards; and review of Encroachment Permits and CEQA submittal. The incumbent will be responsible for recognizing appropriate engineering practices and standards as set forth in the various Caltrans manuals and directives so that drainage facilities are properly planned, safely designed, and can be easily constructed and maintained.

Minimum Qualifications You will find the Minimum Requirements in the Class Specification. If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Civil in-person written hurdle exam, do not take the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Vehicle: The position requires a valid California Driver's License (CDL). You must answer the CDL questions on your application and provide CDL number, class, expiration date, endorsements/restrictions.

Drug screening: A drug screening must be passed prior to being hired.

Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating state-owned or leased vehicle.

Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, a PE license is not required.

Experience with designing roadway or pavement drainage systems. Experience with 2D channel modeling software, experience designing fish passage and river training systems.
