U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Summary: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) and includes details on program approvals, award amounts up to $200,000, and eligibility periods determined by the EDRP Office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants may be ineligible to apply. Duties The incumbent will be responsible for assessment and care of new and returning patients with a range of medical problems. Care may be delivered via face-to-face, telehealth, or video visits. Occasional travel to VISN medical centers or Community Based Outreach Clinics (CBOCs) may be required. Responsibilities include ordering diagnostics, consultations, medications, and other therapies, meeting preventative health maintenance needs, and completing required VA documentation in a timely manner. Telehealth/video visits may be conducted from VA-approved sites. Evaluation, including history and physical, diagnosis, consultation, and treatment of adult patients in the clinic environment. May perform diagnostic or therapeutic procedures such as joint injections, wound care, routine women's health procedures, laceration repair, foreign body removal, and related services. Care for patients via face-to-face, telemedicine, or VA-approved video modalities. Preliminary interpretation of ECG and radiographic studies. Supervise residents, fellows, and others in training. U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited Current, full and unrestricted medical license in the U.S. Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Proficiency in spoken and written English Background/security investigation required Qualifications Basic requirements include medical degree from an accredited school, active medical license, board eligibility or certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, and completion of residency training approved by the VA or recognized bodies. Physical Requirements Position requires visual acuity, hearing, and dexterity, with potentially long periods of walking, standing, bending, and lifting. May involve exposure to infectious materials and the need to wear protective equipment. Annual health requirements and vaccines may be required. Education Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from LCME- or AOA-accredited schools is required. For Foreign Medical Graduates, ECFMG verification may be required.
