Salary information is provided to comply with salary transparency requirements. The salary range for this role is $31.11 hourly. Actual salary depends on factors such as experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Position Summary

Security Guard I - Part Time — 4PM-12AM, Varied Days Off. In this role, the successful candidate patrols hospital buildings and grounds, holds post on an assigned shift protecting patients, visitors, volunteers, employees, and property. Responds to hospital emergencies and provides staff support on access control and special activities as required.

Job Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital buildings and grounds; protect patients, visitors, staff, and property.
• Greet and assist patients, visitors, and employees; identify self by name if requested and provide directions as needed.
• Protect and safeguard hospital properties and installations; operate and monitor security systems (alarms, CCTV, access control) and manage identification card access levels.
• Observe and address suspicious or unusual situations; escort unauthorized individuals from premises; prepare incident reports as required.
• Explain security policies and assist in controlling visitor traffic; ensure package control in accordance with procedures.
• Respond to fire alarms and emergencies using established communications; direct occupants to safe areas and assist emergency responders.
• Detain violators when necessary; may testify in legal proceedings and prepare related documents; may direct traffic and guard during events.
• Maintain visibility as a security deterrent; monitor vehicle and pedestrian traffic to maintain a safe environment.
• Direct and escort employees, patients, and visitors to appropriate areas and assist those with special needs as needed.
• Directs to waiting areas to prevent blocking open areas and hallways; take initiative to correct safety issues and communicate findings to Security Manager.
• Maintain daily logs, incident reports, and other records as requested by Security Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Current and valid NYS Security Guard License. CPR and AED certifications (must be obtained within 90 days of hire). CPI certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire). Strong written and spoken communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
