Overview
National Office Tax Manager or Senior Manager - Tax Controversy at Weaver. Weaver is looking for a Manager or Senior Manager with a specialization in tax controversy to join our growing National Tax Office team. This role involves representing individuals and businesses in tax disputes with taxing authorities, developing strategies for successful resolutions at all stages of controversy (penalty abatement, examinations, appeals, and collections), and managing multiple matters. The Manager/Senior Manager collaborates with firm leadership and plays a key role in business development, firm administration, and team development. Responsibilities
Represent individuals and businesses in tax disputes with taxing authorities. Develop strategies for successful resolutions at all stages of controversy, including penalty abatement, exams, appeals, and collections. Manage multiple matters; interpret tax laws and develop supporting positions; prepare written responses to taxing authorities. Collaborate with firm leadership; participate in business development, firm administration, and development/management of teams. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field CPA or JD 5+ years of tax controversy experience Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop staff Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree in Accounting Strong relationship management and practice development skills Ability to attract and service new clients and expand services to existing clients Compensation and Benefits
Compensation range is $125,000 to $290,000 in the California, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York Metropolitan areas. Actual compensation will be based on experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Weaver also offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan, plus flexible scheduled time off, sick and safe leave, 11 holidays, and additional recharge days.
