The Assistant Second Purser plays a critical role in assisting the Second Purser Pax/Crew in the process of ship clearance, documentation, and various administrative tasks within the Hotel department. The Assistant Second Purser will also provide support to the Front Desk when needed.

Responsibilities and authority

Assume personal responsibility for safety and NCLH’s impact upon the environment.
Clearance Assistance: verify visas, electronic visas, electronic ETAs, and other clearance-related documentation for guests; collaborate with guests and crew to ensure timely submission and verification of required documents; stay updated on changing clearance requirements; assist guests with declarations and electronic arrival applications as needed.
Guest Check-In and Document Verification: assist in the guest check-in process; verify documents such as visas and passports for compliance with entry requirements at each port of call; collaborate with the check-in team to expedite the process and resolve documentation issues.
EU Lisa and Other Verification Processes: prepare and execute verification processes such as EU Lisa and other procedures as required.
Manifest Management: ensure passenger and crew manifests are accurate and submitted as required; reflect changes promptly.
Face-to-Face Inspections: assist in handling inspections and reallocate resources as needed.
Local Authorities and Pax/Crew Issues: interact with local authorities and address unusual occurrences; assist other ship departments with in-port requirements.
Crew Office Assistance: manage crew documentation, clearances, visas, and certifications; streamline communication between the Crew Office and other departments; maintain records and generate regular reports.
Administrative Tasks: handle administrative tasks related to amenities, new cruise preparations, reception floats, and other duties as assigned.
Support to Chief Purser: provide support when the ship is short of a Second Purser, assisting in clearance requirements and related tasks.
Assist Executive Concierge: support the Executive Concierge with administrative tasks and supervise Receptionists when needed.
Education and Experience
Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Previous experience in a purser or administrative role on a cruise ship is preferred.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to adapt to changing clearance procedures and requirements.
Understanding of guest and crew documentation processes.
Flexibility to handle unexpected situations and demands.
Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with various ship departments.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Experience with handling electronic visa and clearance processes is a plus.
