VP, Controller
(Onsite, Greater Portland, ME) A successful healthcare company is seeking a seasoned finance and accounting leader to oversee accounting, treasury, and payroll operations. This role ensures the accuracy of financial reporting, effective cash and investment management, and compliance with financial policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
Lead general ledger and monthly and annual close processes
Ensure financial statements comply with GAAP and healthcare standards
Oversee internal and external financial reporting
Collaborate with finance and operations to interpret financial results
Payroll Operations
Manage payroll processing, tax withholdings, benefits, and filings
Ensure payroll compliance and integration with HR and finance systems
Treasury & Cash Management
Direct daily cash positioning, forecasting, and liquidity strategies
Manage banking relationships, investment accounting, and debt compliance
Ensure alignment of cash management with strategic objectives
Investment Reporting
Lead financial reporting for investments, endowments, and reserves
Ensure compliance with GAAP, FASB ASC 958, IRS regulations, and UPMIFA
Coordinate with investment committees, custodians, and external managers
Leadership & Collaboration
Lead and develop teams in accounting, treasury, and payroll
Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Master’s degree strongly preferred
CPA
required
10+ years in finance or accounting leadership, preferably in healthcare or non-profit sectors
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Infor, Workday, Oracle)
Must be willing to work fully onsite 5X a week
