Overview
Our client is an organization in the Milwaukee area looking for an Accountant with payroll experience, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills. Salary range: $65,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr. RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and enter journal entries for payroll, including department- and program-specific expense allocations and monthly payroll accruals. Process monthly unemployment payments and track associated expenses and credits. Record FSA and HRA transactions, maintain flex account balances, and reconcile with third-party administrators. Prepare journal entries for health, dental, vision, term-life, and disability insurance. Enter journal entries for bank transactions, grant claims, and other accounting activities as needed. Review timesheets for accuracy and completeness. Maintain payroll master records, including employee information, pay rates, and deduction changes. Process payroll deductions, garnishments, and third-party payments, including short-term disability. Calculate retroactive pay adjustments, leave-of-absence deductions, and PTO payouts. Remit 401(k) contributions to third-party administrators. Audit and track PTO balances, ensuring accurate allocations and payouts. Register staff for time clocks and troubleshoot related issues. Review quarterly payroll tax returns and prepare year-end payroll adjustments. Prepare and submit monthly reimbursement claims. Perform monthly bank reconciliations. Prepare year-end payroll accruals and audit schedules. Review and post accounts payable invoices; serve as backup during peak periods or staff absences. Process fixed asset additions for assigned departments. Cross-train on related accounting tasks to ensure continuity of operations. Draft and update policies and procedures to document essential accounting processes. Note:
