The role involves coordination with the Community Schools Resource Coordinator and other school staff to recruit and coordinate volunteers and develop strategies to support families and students. Work collaboratively with school staff to identify families needing support, manage a small caseload if applicable, and promote diverse parent representation and involvement. Advocate for parents and ensure parent voices are valued in decision making; meet with parents and principals to address concerns and coordinate resolutions. Conduct home visits when needed and attend school-based evening events to support partnerships with families. Provide transportation assistance as allowed by district policy and coordinate resources to improve attendance and access to opportunities. Promote communication with families and the community through articles, presentations, and approved interactions with media and community leaders. Participate in Read Your Heart Out (FYCE) and related literacy/family-engagement initiatives; assist in budget reporting and sharing learnings with the Principal. Engage with four priority workstreams: Attendance Support, Family Empowerment, Volunteer Recruitment, and Family Orientations, with associated actions to promote attendance, caregiver voice, and resource access. May participate in school leadership teams and attend professional development related to engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organizational and problem-solving abilities; conflict resolution and mediation skills. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; demonstrated success in building positive community relationships. Experience working cross-culturally or a commitment to developing cultural competence. Willingness to learn district technology tools for reporting and monitoring student progress. Working Conditions and Other Details
Some travel within the district and off-site meetings; regular evening and occasional weekend work; in-person unless directed otherwise.
